Maybelline Limited Edition Spring 2011 Lipsticks and Lip Gloss in Pink Beam 950, Glistening Pink 952 & First Light 953

What the Website claims:

MORE LUMINOUS SHIMMER from micronized pearls

CREAMIER FEEL from nourishing honey nectar
10 always flattering, never frosty shades

(Sorry for the glare)

Left-Pink Gleam Right-Glistening Pink

This is my first go at Maybelline Lipsticks and glosses. I do like the colors and finishes I've selected; very springy and feminine. The consistency is in fact creamy and feels moisturizing even though I doubt it actually is. But these are absolutely frosty and metallic, I don't mind too much though. My only complaints are the lasting power and the 'clinging'. As you can tell from the pictures below, my lips are quite dry despite my constant application of chap stick; these 'frosty/metallic' finishes don't do justice for my poor lips. I originally was most excited about pink beam but ended up getting a few things from the collection and I've become quite attached to glistening pink. I really can't say too much about them though, I've only had them for a short time. But anyhow, on to the swatches. :)

My bare lips:

Pink Beam 950:
(this shade absolutely accentuates dry/chapped lips)

Pink Beam 950 with First Light lip gloss 953 on top:

Glistening Pink 952:

First Light 953:
Oh yeah, the lipsticks smell like vanilla with a hint of lipstick(haha). The gloss on the other hand has a really nice citrusy smell. If you're sensitive to smells i don't think these will bother you too much; I find the smell fades after a bit. Also the gloss has a standard ,but rather small, doe-foot applicator. It gives you just enough to coat the lips with a thin layer of gloss. The stopper on my gloss is good as well, no mess.

Maybelline limited edition spring 2011 nail polish in 645 Pink Glimpse

Over the past weekend i picked up a few of the new limited edition maybelline spring 2011 products.I only picked up 1 nail polish though (which is hard for me because i loooove nail polish). the one I picked up was 645 Pink Glimpse.

This is the first I've ever tried a maybelline nail polish, and I admit I do like it. It's nothing super fancy but not goopy, runny or messy either. The brush in my bottle was fine and the formula is what I expected; nothing to complain about. It's a lovely spring shade and I'm glad I purchased it.
I can't confirm this but I have heard that this is the most opaque of all the limited edition spring shades. It is absolutely a sheer polish and it took 3 coats to achieve the above opacity. I also have to admit this color is not all too unique yet it is still very season appropriate.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner, Bronze Collection for Green Eyes

I have one more physicians formula review on the shimmer strip this time in bronze for green eyes. I picked this up from CVS while they had their 75% off sale along with the pop for hazel eyes.

The Website Claims:

  • The newest way to glow year-round! Rich, beautiful bronze shades make your eyes gleam while enhancing their natural color.
  • Three blendable trios perfectly paired to color, contour and line your eyes for illuminating, high impact.
As with the other palette these are also in bar form and the shadows are connected. the packaging and brush are exactly the same along with the trio divisions and number of shadows.
Although this palette contains more work friendly colors! the bronze series features neutral shimmery colors for each specific eye color, this one being green eyes. this set includes several variations of brown and gold along with a light green, olive green, and light pink.
The formula is also the same in this palette; very soft shimmer shadows. the only difference i notice it that these shadows apply nicely when used dry with out a base. the wear time on these shadows are roughly the same as-well.
If you would like to see my full review on the pop for hazel eyes please click Here.

These swatches were applied wet without a base/primer and photographed in direct sunlight

These palettes retail for about $10-11 at most drugstores. But as always keep your eye out for promotional sales and coupons!
